MedLog Pro

MedLog Pro is built around two distinct clinical personas:

• Trainee / Resident: The primary logging role. Enables procedural tracking, logbook generation, and verification requests.
• Supervisor / Consultant: The oversight role. Focuses on reviewing trainee logs, auditing departmental metrics, and providing digital sign-offs.

Tip: If you need to switch roles, navigate to More > Change User Role. Note that this action clears local unsynced drafts for security purposes.

Protecting sensitive clinical data is paramount. You can enable Biometric Unlock (Fingerprint or FaceID) via the More tab. This ensures that even if your device is unlocked, your logbook remains inaccessible to unauthorized users.

Every clinical entry is assigned a unique, auto-incrementing Case Number to ensure audit compliance. The system generates these IDs based on the activity type and the calendar year:

• Format: [PREFIX]-[6-DIGIT NUMBER]-[YEAR] (e.g., SURG-000042-2024).
• Logic: When you start a new entry, the app calculates the next available number by counting your existing logs for that year. It then performs a real-time uniqueness check against the database to prevent any duplicates.

We integrate the international standard for grading surgical complications. When logging a case outcome, you can select Grades I through V to maintain an audit-ready complications register.

Surgical documentation often involves repetitive descriptions of operative steps. The Template Management module allows you to:

1. Pre-define "Steps Performed" and "Post-op Plans" for common diagnoses (e.g., Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy).
2. When adding a case, selecting that diagnosis will automatically trigger a "Template Found" notification.
3. Applying the template instantly populates the fields, which you can then customize for the specific patient.

MedLog Pro tracks the "Trust Level" of every log through a formal communication lifecycle:

• Draft (Grey): Locally saved on your device. Only you can see this. Use this to record details quickly during rounds and finalize them later.
• Submitted (Yellow): Uploaded to the cloud. Your selected supervisor can now see this in their "Pending Review" list. The log is locked for editing to ensure data integrity.
• Approved / Finalized (Green): Verified by your supervisor. These cases are officially added to your logbook and contribute toward your Competency (EPA) targets and CME credits.
• Sent Back (Orange): Your supervisor has requested changes. You will receive their feedback, and the log is unlocked so you can edit and resubmit it.
• Rejected (Red): Denied by the supervisor. These entries are archived but do not count toward training milestones or volume requirements.

The verification loop ensures institutional validity:

• Registration: If your supervisor isn't listed, they must register their own account with the 'Supervisor' role first.
• Selection: During case entry, select your supervisor from the cloud-synced list.
• Sync: Once you upload your case to the cloud, it appears in your supervisor's "Pending Review" list.
• Review: The supervisor reviews your logs and media attachments.
• Status: Cases change from "Pending" to "Verified" (Green Badge), locked for further editing to maintain audit integrity.

This module tracks your progress against standard clinical milestones. You can choose between Surgical or Medical tracks to load relevant competencies for your training level.

• Setup Wizard: When first opening the dashboard, use the wizard to select your track and set numeric targets for each EPA.
• Progress Calculation: The app automatically links your logs to relevant competencies.
  • Finalized: Approved or finalized by a supervisor.
  • Pending: Submitted but awaiting review.
• Status: Once finalized cases meet the target, the competency is marked as 'Met'.

MedLog Pro uses a Local-First architecture. Your logs are stored in a secure encrypted SQLite database (Room DB) on your phone. You control when to sync to the cloud, ensuring privacy during sensitive operations.

If you lose your phone, our Thorough Restore feature pulls your entire history, including custom templates and media links, back onto your new device in seconds.
